Unified Pictures and the Oklahoma Film & Music Office are pleased to announce upcoming production of the feature film Rudderless in Oklahoma.
Rudderless will mark the directorial debut for Oscar® nominee William H. Macy (Fargo), who will star alongside Billy Crudup (Almost Famous, Watchmen), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Terminator Salvation, Like Crazy), Selena Gomez (Spring Breakers), Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix trilogy, Contagion, Man of Steel) and Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives), in the Unified Pictures film.
Rudderless is a musical drama about the power of a parent’s love. When a grieving father in a downward spiral stumbles across a box of his deceased son’s original music, he forms a band, hoping to find peace in the wake of his tragic loss.
The film is being produced by Keith Kjarval through his Unified Pictures production/finance banner & Brad Greiner, through his indie shingle Amberdale Productions. Oklahoma City’s Casey Twenter and Jeff Robison adapted the screenplay from an original story they wrote with William H. Macy.
Principal photography will commence later this month in Oklahoma City and Guthrie utilizing the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate.
“We are very happy to have Rudderless going into production soon here in Oklahoma”, said Jill Simpson, Director of the Oklahoma Film & Music Office. “We are proud of both the talent and the tenacity of Casey and Jeff. They’ve not only written a great script that has attracted A-list talent, including director William H. Macy, but they have worked hard to bring the film to life in Oklahoma where it is set. These elements make Rudderless the perfect project for Oklahoma’s film rebate program.”
“This film was written in Oklahoma and set in Oklahoma, and we saw no reason to shoot it anywhere but Oklahoma.  And it was lucky for us that we did, because since we started our prep here, people have been more than accommodating. They’ve been downright generous,” said William H. Macy.
Said Kjarval, “Bill Macy is a profoundly talented artist and to surround him with such a diverse variety of tremendous actors makes us extremely confident this film will deliver on every level.” Kjarval also added “Another overwhelming factor in the success of the film is the great state of Oklahoma and the many people who have taken us in and provided us everything from competitive financial incentives to a gorgeous landscape with which to tell our story.”
Kjarval’s Unified Pictures has two films premiering in the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival – the thriller A Single Shot, directed by David M. Rosenthal, starring Sam Rockwell, William H. Macy and Jeffrey Wright, and the dark comedy Trust Me, directed by and starring Clark Gregg, alongside Amanda Peet, Molly Shannon, Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, Allison Janney and Sam Rockwell.
