Film Review By: Mut
Okay, so I went in expecting to like this film because of the heavyweights names attached to it. Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and my secret crush Alan Arkin. Separately each are a force to be reckoned with but together this triumvirate had me in stitches. Believably old and believably bad they take STAND UP GUYS to a place of delight that even I did not expect to experience.
Writer Noah Haidle, did an effective job in translating past-prime-wiseass-mobster into big screen action. The movie was at times slow but that because my action craving brain hated to switch to time-to-understand-character mode. However, looking back I can appreciate the simplicity of the characters because of the simplicity of the code by which they lived by as STAND UP GUYS.
Very funny, the theatre rocked and rolled and with laughter. People left with smiles on their faces so I mark that as film success. My only gripe would be Arkin’s short showing. This film also sports a nice soundtrack…for my soul loving self anyways. Not a waste of money. Go see it.
