About a year ago we found Kim Townsend on Sonicbids.com and knew this Texas talent needed her day in illustrious pages of Unsigned The Magazine (UTM). But alas, a years worth of declining ad sales and bushel of lost writers later we finally have the ability to give this sweet sounding, wonderful songwriter her feature. And deservedly so.
Her second album Just Because is full of country folk charm that has Texas wit written and sung all over it.
This Lubbock, Texas native spends a lot of her time on the road sharing her music with others in Austin, the Hill Country area, Lubbock, and Dallas in addition to her frequent shows in Oklahoma, Seattle, the Pacific Northwest, and all points in between.
According to her bio, radio and television ads have featured her music as well as a documentary film that was shot for Imax theaters, and plans are currently “in the works” to use three songs from her latest CD in an upcoming feature film!
Kim’s music has been placed highly in contests such as the Austin Songwriter’s Contest, the Woody Guthrie Songwriting Contest, and the Texas Country Reporter’s Songwriting Contest. In 2008 she was selected as one of First Act Guitar’s “Emerging Artists” and Just Because was named a final nominee for “Album of the Year” at the 2008 Texas Music Awards by the Academy of Texas Music.
