Angelika Film Centers – Dallas & Plano Announce the Fourth Season of “National Theatre Live”

ANNOUNCE THE FOURTH SEASON OF NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE 

Titles Include: “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” “The Last of the Haussmans,” “Timon of Athens”


DALLAS (September 10, 2012) – The Angelika Film Centers in Dallas and Plano are delighted to present the fourth season of National Theatre Live (NT Live), a successful initiative to broadcast performances captured live from the National’s stages.  Since its first season, which began in June 2009 with the acclaimed production of Phédre starring Helen Mirren, over 750,000 people have now experienced the National’s work on movie screens worldwide.

In addition to Mirren’s unforgettable performance as Phédre, Dallas and Plano audiences have been treated to Rory Kinnear’s acclaimed performance as Hamlet, Jonny Lee Miller & Benedict Cumberbatch’s Best Actor Olivier award winning performances as Frankenstein & the Creature, James Corden’s Tony-winning performance in One Man, Two Guvnors and many more.

Season four titles include The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, The Last of the Haussmans, and Timon of Athens. Additional titles for 2013 will be announced soon.

Mark Haddon’s beloved and award winning novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time has been adapted for the stage by Simon Stephens.  Marianne Elliott (War Horse) directs this richly theatrical exploration of Haddon’s touching and bleakly humorous story.  The cast includes Niamh Cusack, Nick Sidi, Una Stubbs, Luke Treadaway, Nicola Walker.

Stephen Beresford’s new play The Last of the Haussmans, directed by Howard Davies, examines the fate of the 1960s revolutionary generation and offers a funny, touching and at times savage portrait of a family full of longing that’s losing its grip. The cast includes Rory Kinnear, Matthew Marsh, Helen McCrory and Julie Walters.

Simon Russell Beale takes the title role in Timon of Athens, Shakespeare’s strange fable of conspicuous consumption, debt and ruin, written in collaboration with Thomas Middleton, directed by Nicholas Hytner.
